Christy Smith has been "on call" for over 10 years. She is a pilot, and a member of Angel Flight-providing free air transportation for people in need seeking access to specialized health facilities or distant destinations. One flight might be a transplant patient; one might be transporting the organ itself.
Christy, in conjunction with the "99's", a women's flying club, also organizes an annual outing at Christmastime for the Sulzbacher children to come to Craig Field for airplane rides-the highlight of many of their lives.
