Charlene Shirk is co-anchor of Good Morning Jacksonville Saturday on WTLV's weekend morning news show. Charlene started her career with WTLV as an associate producer in 1991. She left the station in 1993 to report for the CBS affiliates in Fort Smith, Arkansas and Tulsa Oklahoma before returning to Jacksonville in 1996.
Charlene conceived and has spearheaded the ambitious "Operation Suitcase" project that provides crucial supplies to foster kids throughout the First Coast. She is also involved in numerous children's causes during the year.
Charlene has covered various assignments including the Oklahoma City bombing, President Clinton signing of the executive order mandating pictures of missing children be posted in all government buildings, and was first on the scene when a deadly tornado killed four people and nearly destroyed the city of Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Most recently she has received the Sigma Delta Chi award, a national award for excellence in journalism, the Gabrielle Award, sponsored by Catholic Communicators working in radio and television, the Wilbur Award from the Religious Public Relations Council and the Jerry Hamm Media Award.
