Kyle Meenan is an award-winning journalist who brings more than two decades of professional experience to First Coast News. You may recognize Kyle as the original host of ESPN's "Outdoor News," or perhaps you've caught him anchoring newscasts while in Jacksonville, Honolulu, Las Vegas, Boston or Texas.
Perhaps you've enjoyed his articles in Golf World®, or Honolulu® magazines, or his appearance as reporter Dick Yordan in the John Sayles movie, "Sunshine State" filmed here on the First Coast. Regardless of the medium, Kyle's genuine, easy-going style has touched millions, and left them smiling. Kyle was recently named a recipient of the prestigious Edward R. Murrow Award for Broadcast Journalism Excellence in the category of Spot News.
Those who know him at home or on the job have nicknamed Kyle, "McGyver-Meenan" for his love of gadgets and his knack for making things work. In recent years he has continued to develop a passion for photography, and a number of his galleries are viewable on the firstcoastnews.com website.
Away from work, Kyle enjoys the blessing of family time with his wife Karen, and daughters Ashleigh and Katherine. Other interests include an occasional round of golf, surf-casting with the family's golden retrievers, playing 12-string guitar and violin, and snow skiing on those rare times when the family can get to the mountains. His goals in life are clear: To continue to enjoy the blessings of his marriage and family, to write well, and to be active in improving the lives of others.
