Victim Advocate

About Bill: Bill describes himself as a Jacksonville native. He grew up in the restaurant business with his family. His whole life has been centered around food. Coming from an Italian family it has been pasta, pasta and more pasta. On Sundays came the fried chicken, pot roast, mashed potatoes, and yeast rolls.

Bill married at 19, during his first year of college. Six months later, he joined the Marine Corps. He was in the best shape of his life, but after the military his weight has been like a yo-yo - fluctuating for 43 years.

In the last 13 years, the only exercise Bill gets is getting in and out of his car. He used to play golf but quit when he and his wife divorced. Bill remarried last year, and is a happy newlywed.

Sentinel Moment: The sentinel moment for Bill was his mother's death from type II diabetes. In 2003, Bill moved in with his mother to help care for her . Bill helped her with her medication and changing of her bandages. She lost her battle with diabetes when her kidneys failed. Bill says "To watch your mother suffer is a life changing experience." In 2005, he was diagnosed with type II diabetes, in addition to high blood pressure and high cholesterol.

You'll most likely see Bill: At the Gate station on Hendricks Avenue, drinking coffee and talking with the help & customers, at the movies, restaurants, malls, and Town Center.

Weekend Activities: Go out to eat, Church, be around people, local activities

Favorite Sports Teams: Gators, Jaguars

If I'm Watching a Movie or Listening to Music, it's probably: Suspense movies, listen to oldies, country and easy listening

I am passionate about: my faith, my family, my church and helping crime victims recover
