Petition for Weird Al to perform at Super Bowl 49

SEATTLE (KING) -- Beat it, Bruno Mars. Or rather, eat it? There's a new petition on to get Weird Al Yankovic as the half-time performer at Super Bowl 49.

Ed Ball, who moved to Seattle in January, says he wrote the petition after a night out. He overheard a group of friends talking about possible half-time performers for the next Super Bowl. The pop music suggestions like Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez didn't sit well with Ball, so he went home and submitted a petition to get Weird Al as a perfomer.

Ball explained his reasoning online: "Now, I am a life long football fan, former high school player, and enjoy classic rock artists performing on the big stage. Loved seeing the Stones, Tom Petty, and the Who. Foo Fighters or AC/DC would be excellent future choices too. However, they already appeal to the 'Average Joe' fan, and do not reach out to a wider audience."

Ball wrote the petition Have Weird Al Yankovic headline the Super Bowl XLIX Halftime Show late Tuesday night. Since then, it has more than 25,000 signatures from all over the country.
