Toyota is voluntarily recalling 2.5 million vehicles in the United States to apply a fix to the driver's side power window master switch.
USA TODAY reports that 7.4 million vehicles are being recalled globally.
Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. said Wednesday drivers might notice a notchy or sticky feel during operation, which might melt the switch assembly that could lead to smoke or even a fire under some circumstances.
Toyota said the problem may be due to an uneven application of grease during the switch assembly process.
Toyota is mailing owners affected by the recall a notification letter. The fix is to apply a special fluorine grease to the driver's side power window master switch.
Here's a list from Toyota of the vehicles affected:
• 2007 to 2008 Yaris (approx. 110,300)
• 2007 to 2009 RAV4 (approx. 336,400)
