Driver killed in fiery crash on SB I-75 involving 3 tractor-trailers, SUV in Lake City

Florida Highway Patrol has identified the man killed in a fiery crash on I-75 in Lake City involving three tractor-trailers and an SUV.

LAKE CITY, Fla — Florida Highway Patrol identified the truck driver killed in a fiery wreck on southbound Interstate-75 in Lake City Tuesday afternoon.

Jean. E. Sainca, 44, died when three tractor-trailers and an SUV collided near Mile Marker 413, according to the report from FHP.

A video posted to Facebook shows the fiery wreck with debris scattered throughout the road surrounded by flames.

FHP troopers were dispatched to the scene just after 2:30 p.m., according to the FHP crash report map.

The report from FHP says two tractor-trailers, one driven by Sainca, were traveling north. A third tractor-trailer and an SUV were traveling south.

The crash began when one tractor-trailer experienced a front left tire failure, causing the vehicle to veer to the left, striking Sainca's vehicle.

Both northbound tractor-trailers crashed through the center guardrail and the first tractor-trailer jackknifed across the southbound lanes. The driver of that vehicle was not injured.

Sainca's vehicle was then struck by the southbound tractor-trailer.

It was then that Sainca's vehicle caught fire and came to a rest across the southbound lanes, FHP said.

The third tractor-trailer traveled westward onto the grass shoulder and down an embankment before also catching fire. The driver of that vehicle, John B. Bryant, 45, sustained serious injuries.

The driver of the oncoming SUV saw the wreck as it happened and drove off the roadway onto the west shoulder where it struck a tree and become caught up in the fiery crash, according to the report. The driver of the SUV sustained minor injuries.
