Four vehicles were involved in a deadly crash on Jacksonville's Southside Thursday afternoon, authorities say.
Denny Grahovic, 18, of Jacksonville, died in the crash on Beach Boulevard and St. Johns Bluff Road, says Jacksonville Sheriff's Office spokesperson Melissa Bujeda.
Around 10:20 a.m., Beach drivers had the green light - a Lexus, a gasoline tanker and a Honda were in the outside, center and turn lanes respectively, when a Nissan SUV ran the red light on St. Johns Bluff at a high rate of speed - jumping the concrete median and hitting the Honda in the driver-side door.
Police say the Honda and the Nissan continued moving into the path of the tanker truck. Both vehicles were hit by the tanker, which was pushed into the Lexus's lane.
The 39-year-old woman driving the Nissan and a 16-year-old passenger of the Honda were taken to a local hopsital with life-threatening injuries. Police say Grahovic was also transported but later died.
Authorities say there is no evidence at the time of this writing of drugs or alcohol being a factor. Speed is considered a factor.
