Both directions of the Mathews Bridge is back open after a suspicious item shut it down for about two hours Tuesday afternoon.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office tweeted around 1:08 p.m. that all of the lanes were closed because of police activity and advised drivers to use an alternate route during the closure.
Around 3 p.m., JSO said a suspicious item was found and determined it was nothing the public should be concerned about.
