ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — As the temperature chills and winter holidays approach, how about some warmer thoughts of summertime on the beach?

St. Johns County has on-beach driving passes available for purchase as of Monday, calling them "great stocking stuffers for the holiday season."

County residents can pay $50 for a pass, while those living outside the county pay double. Because of COVID-19 issues over the past few months, the county will also extend all 2020 annual on-beach driving passes through the 2021 beach season. That means those with a 2020 on-beach driving pass need to keep their sticker since it can't be replaced.

FYI, only St. Johns County residents can do business at county Tax Collector’s offices right now, so buyers need to show a driver's license or property tax payment with a county address.

The passes are available at the St. Johns County Ocean and Fishing Pier Gift Shop at 350 A1A Blvd. and Tax Collector’s offices at 4030 Lewis Speedway and 6658 S. U.S. 1 in St. Augustine. They are also available during business hours at Tax Collector's offices at 725 Flora Branch Blvd. in Saint Johns and 151 Sawgrass Corners Drive in Ponte Vedra Beach.

Vehicles accessing the beach do not need a beach pass until March 1, when they can be bought at the tollbooths.
