No one injured after ambulance catches fire on I-295 in Jacksonville

The fire was extinguished by Jacksonville firefighters. However, it appears to have caused major damage inside the ambulance, from pictures posted by the JFRD.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — No one was injured after an ambulance from the St. Johns County Fire Rescue caught fire on I-295 in South Jacksonville Tuesday afternoon. 

The ambulance was taking a patient and family member when the vehicle caught on fire near the Gate Parkway exit, according to the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department.

The fire was extinguished by Jacksonville firefighters. However, it appears to have caused major damage inside the ambulance, from pictures posted by the JFRD.

It is unclear what caused the fire.
