JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A 1-year-old child suffered life-threatening injuries Monday at the Arlington Road-Lillian Road intersection after falling out of a moving vehicle and being struck by another car, according to JSO.

The crash occurred shortly before 4:30 p.m. and involved two vehicles. One vehicle driven by a woman with her four children inside was driving in the area when the 1-year-old child inside opened one of the doors and fell out of the vehicle.

A vehicle behind them struck the child, who was later transported with life-threatening injuries to Wolfson’s Children Hospital, JSO told First Coast News.

Police said none of the children in the vehicle were in car seats, and the mother could face charges because of that.

The other driver is not facing any charges due to the crash being an accident.
