A shooting along the highway has temporarily shut down the exit ramp from I-295 northbound to Normandy Boulevard Thursday during afternoon rush hour. At this time, the lanes are back open.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said it happened around 4:15 p.m. between two vehicles.

JSO said a dispute occurred and a shot was fired from the suspect's gray vehicle along I-295. JSO said the bullets traveled through the victim's back window and struck the driver in the back. The victim pulled over on Normandy Boulevard and called 911. The victim was taken to UF Health with one gunshot wound.

At this time, the suspect is unknown and they don't know the type of gun that was used. Police also don't know if the victim or suspect knew each other.

JSO is also not classifying this incident as road rage at this time.
