27-year-old woman killed in crash that shut down I-95 NB just past SR-207

A fatal crash on I-95 northbound just past SR-207 in St. Johns County has forced emergency crews to block all lanes for drivers headed in the direction.

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -- A fatal crash on I-95 northbound just past SR-207 in St. Johns County has forced emergency crews to block all lanes for drivers headed in the direction.

Mercedes B. Britton, 27, has been identified as the victim in the crash that occurred early Friday.

According to officials, the crash involved two semis and three other vehicles. It is unclear if the person in one of the semis or one of the vehicles had died.

Traffic appeared to be routed off at SR-207, which means you can take that into downtown St. Augustine and then take SR-16 back to 95 NB or continue on US-1 NB. The northbound lanes were shut down for about eight hours before the crash was cleared around 1 p.m.

There was also a second crash at I-95 northbound at SR-206. All of the lanes were blocked and the crash involves two vehicles. There was a trauma alert and a helicopter landed for medical transport.
