Doug Marrone on the Jaguars' offensive struggles: 'We have to do a better job'

Jacksonville's offense offered up a 10-point effort during the wild-card round win over the Buffalo Bills.

The Jaguars know their offense needs to improve if they are going to win the team's first Super Bowl championship in franchise history.

Despite the win, concerns regarding the offense have continued to fester. Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone understands those concerns.

“Everything is a concern when you want to play better, when you don't play well," Marrone said Monday.

"Like I said, we, collectively, everyone, it starts with me to attack it to the assistant coaches to the players. We have to do a better job. We've got to do a better job starting today. We have to do a better job tomorrow. To me, and I know it sounds cliché, it's not like its one area. We have to pick it up in all of these areas and do a better job offensively.”

Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles connected on just 12-of-23 passes for 87 passing yards and a touchdown against the Bills.

The team's top three wide receivers - Allen Hurns, Marqise Lee and Keelan Cole - were held without a catch on three targets.

Running back Leonard Fournette only managed 57 rushing yards on 21 carries.

It was an overall offensive letdown against Buffalo but Jacksonville still won. The Jaguars probably won't be as lucky next time.

Jacksonville will face Pittsburgh on Sunday. The Steelers averaged 25.4 points per game during the regular season.

While the Jaguars beat the Steelers, 30-9, in Week 5, Jacksonville's passing offense was an afterthought. Due to two defensive touchdowns, the Jaguars' offense wasn't forced to produce a plethora of points or yardage.

In the rematch, the Jaguars' offense will probably have to step up.

The unit will certainly need to play better than it did during the wild-card round to make it past the divisional matchup against the Steelers.
