Not that it’s surprising after the Cleveland Cavaliers won the 2016 NBA championship, but LeBron James will be back to defend his title.
When asked by @USATODAYsports if he was returning to Cavs next season, LeBron James smiled, nodded yes.— Jeff Zillgitt (@JeffZillgitt) June 22, 2016
James, 31, is expected to opt out of his current two-year deal, which would’ve paid him $24 million next season. He can make around $30 million next season with the influx of TV money and the league's rising salary cap.
Not that there was much question about James returning after ending Cleveland’s 52-year championship drought on Sunday night, but James assured Cavs fans that he’d be back ahead of Wednesday’s parade.
Free agency officially opens on July 1.
