ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. -- On the eve of the Georgia-Florida football game, this Southeast Georgia community with miles of beach hosts what has become a tradition on what is known as "Frat Beach."
Thousands of college students from the University of Georgia along with others make the trek to the ocean for a day long party. It started several years ago with last year's crowd topping 5,000.
"You cannot really describe in words until actually experience yourself," said Evan Greenberg who made the trip from Athens.
Emily Williams is a student too. She says, "Just like bringing Athens to the beach."
Plenty of security both on and off the beach with the U.S. Coast Guard staffing the water to keep an eye on the crowd.
For a day, students replaced locals on a beach in what is becoming a tradition; a bulldog beach bash.
Could the bash get bigger? "I hope it doesn't , but I bet it can," said Ashley Thomas who enjoyed beach time and sunny skies with friends.
