WATCH | Confession tapes released of man convicted of killing beloved St. Augustine priest

Steven Murray was convicted of killing beloved St. Augustine Priest, Father Rene Robert, about two years ago.

For the first time, we're hearing why he did it straight from his own mouth.

"My nerves are f****** running 100 mph. I'm going to tell y'all everything you need to know. Full confession and everything," Murray says in interrogation tapes obtained by First Coast News.

WATCH FIRST COAST NEWS TONIGHT AT 6 on NBC 12, ABC 25 where our Anthony Austin will be breaking down the nearly two hours of tape.

The tape shows Murray sitting in an interrogation room at the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office. The detectives start to read him his rights, but this isn't his first run-in with the law.

"I already know them," Murray says. "I have a right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have a right for an attorney. If you cannot afford one, y'all will appoint me one."

The detective replys, "You do that better than some of the deputies."
