JACKSONVILLE, FL - It is Tuesday, so that means it is time for our Teacher of the Week!
This week it is Cassie Tejera at Jacksonville Heights Elementary School. She is from a family of teachers, so she says teaching is in her blood. This is currently her fifth year teaching and Ms. Tejera says she feels like teaching makes the country a better place, in essence, teaching is her way of helping the future.
She teaches reading, writing and social studies and likes to keep her lessons very active and showing students how to apply the lessons in life. She says her best advice to first year teachers is to remember you set the bar for the classroom.
"The way that you come to work everyday and the excitement that you have, the love that you have for your kids. that makes all the difference in the world," says Ms. Tejera.
