JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Duval County Supervisor of Elections Office warehouse and training center on Imeson Park Boulevard is open for business.
But beyond these walls is when you see how big of an improvement this truly is.
Duval County Supervisor of Elections Jerry Holland said think of it as "election central."
The new and improved site includes more room to train poll workers, more storage space for ballot boxes and a 70-person call center to assist voters.
Holland said it's designed to make his office more efficient for the future.
The new site is expected to save taxpayers more than $3 million dollars over 10 years in discounted rent.
City council members negotiated the deal when the facility relocated from the Gateway Shopping Center.
A move that outraged some, but one Holland stands behind even today.
"It didn't cost us anything to move. The landlord paid for us to move over here, paid for the build out. So it's really a win win with a great building at a great cost," Holland said.
Voters can still go to Gateway. It'll be used for early voting early inside the Tax Collector's old call center.
