Dan Janson, lead Detective Sergeant for the Homicide and Cold Case Division at the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, has filed for the Jacksonville Beach City Council District 3, Seat 6.

“There’s no place my wife Becky and I would rather live than right here in Jacksonville Beach,” Janson said. “We want our 2 youngest children, Colson and Addyson, to choose our community to build their careers and start their families in the years to come. I know that with the right leadership, we can build off of our city’s success to create safer streets, more jobs, and a high quality of life.”

Janson is a 25-year veteran of the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. He is also a member of the Jacksonville Police Council, the FSA Cold Case Advisory Commission and has recently been named to the Board of Directors of Project: Cold Case, a not-for-profit organization with the goal of publicizing homicides in hopes of getting them solved.

Janson has lived in Jacksonville Beach for more than forty years. His wife is a school teacher at a beaches elementary school and they both graduated from Fletcher High School. Janson and his entire family attend The Church of Eleven 22.
