Marion County Sheriff's Office posted on their Facebook about a horrific case of animal cruelty spawning from an argument.

According to the post, James Reid, 68, intentionally cut the tails off of four-week-old kittens after being told explicitly by the owner of the kittens not to touch the animals.

The owner of the kittens said that Reid got into an argument with her husband on the farm where Reid volunteers. Reid grabbed a pair of garden scissors along with iodine and told a co-worker that he was going to cut the tails off of the kittens and said to witnesses that he wanted the owner of the kittens to "look at those cats and think of him."

He later came out of the barn with the kittens' tails in hand.

He was arrested for animal cruelty. Marion County Animal Control said that the "tail docking" was done improperly because of the kittens' age, that it was done without anesthetic, and not stitched to assist with the healing process.
