JACKSONVILLE, Fla.- A two year old child was grazed by shotgun pellets from a neighboring apartment on Jacksonville's Southside Monday evening.

Two men were handling a shotgun in an apartment at the Villages of Baymeadows apartments in the 6900 block of Baymeadows Road when the gun fired by accident, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

JSO says the pellets went into a neighboring apartment, hitting the child who was sleeping in the leg.

The child was treated for her injuries at the apartment and was not taken to the hospital.

Police are interviewing the two men to determine whether charges should be filed.
