A St. Johns County man who is already serving time on a charge of unlawful sexual activity with a minor faces three additional charges of sexual battery involving a minor, according to the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office.

Daniel Gerald Delany, 53, was arrested earlier this year following an incident where he picked up a runaway in the Orlando area, Special Victims Unit detectives said. He was charged with interference with custody, followed by an additional charge and conviction of unlawful sexual activity with a minor.

SVU said another investigation revealed that the suspect had allegedly committed sexual battery on a victim less than 12 years old on three different occasions. They said the victim disclosed the allegations of sexual abuse to a counselor.

Detectives questioned Delaney and arrested him at the jail for the three capital felony charges. His bond was set at $1.5 million.
