JACKSONVILLE — The Special Operations Command Paracommandos parachuted into TIAA Bank Field.

Dozens of Special Operators, including reserve forces and Department of Defense civilians make up the team which performs in events around the country.

One of the team members serves active duty in the Army as a Green Beret.

Sgt. First Class Cory Christiansen has done thousands of these jumps.

He says a gear check is critical whether he’s diving into football stadiums or foreign countries.

“This is a way for us to get to work in another country. If we’re in a denied area that we can’t land an airplane, we can exit in a good area and land in a denied area,” Christiansen said.

Christiansen prefers flying into football games.

Socom Paracommandos are the only joint demonstration team made up of special operators from different military branches.

“We love coming into the stadium, hearing the crowd, we can actually feel it in our canopy, it rumbles with the crowd, and it amps us up and gets us excited and encourages us to perform better,” Christiansen said.

Christiansen feels honored to represent over 71,000 special operations members deployed around the world.

And it’s an equally great honor to fly into stadiums for thousands of fans.

“It’s an amazing feeling, the crowd gets into it and we get into it, we love it,” Christiansen said.
