#SafePlaceSelfie: Do you know where you'll be safest during times of severe weather?

Your "safe place" may be different depending on the type of hazardous weather. Flash flooding? Turn around, don't drown. Make sure to stay on high ground during times of flooding.

Ahead of any severe storms or even our Atlantic hurricane season, it's important to know where you'd go to stay safe during times of life-threatening weather. The National Weather Service and meteorologists across the country take time during early April to remind people of this by using the hashtag #SafePlaceSelfie.

Your "safe place" may be different depending on the type of hazardous weather. Flash flooding? Turn around, don't drown. Make sure to stay on high ground during times of flooding.

Lightning? Hail? Tornado? Go indoors! If you do not have a basement, the best place to be would be an interior room on the first floor with no windows.
