JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- You likely know your neighbors pretty well, but do you know who lives around your child's bus stop?
In Georgia, courts over turned a law that banned sex offenders from living within 1,000 feet of a bus stop. So do a quick search of the area around your child's bus stop by using the Georgia Bureau of Investigations website.
You can also use an app called Life 360. All you have to do is create an account and put in your address or the address of the bus stop and you will get a listing of the sex offenders in that area.
In Florida, sex offenders with victims under the age of 18 and are serving a court-ordered term of community monitoringare not permitted to live within 1,000 feet of a bus stop.
So before you send your child off to school, take a moment and do a quick check!
