Jacksonville International Airport was ranked among the best travel hubs in North America when it comes to customer service. JIA was tied for first with two other airports in the Airport Service Quality Award announced by the Airports Council International.

JIA was tied with Indianapolis International Airport (Indiana) and Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (Canada).

In addition, JIA came in third in the category of “Best Airport by Size” in the council’s ranking of airports worldwide.

Jacksonville Aviation Authority CEO Steve Grossman said in a prepared statement Monday that the honors justify what local airport officials already knew.

“These awards validate our team approach to customer service where the entire airport community has a stake in our travelers,” Grossman said in a news release. “It also confirms the value of listening to our travelers and adapting to their needs.”

The Airport Service Quality Award is based on customer satisfaction surveys administered to passengers at various airports, and the rankings are based on the data from those surveys, according to the Airports Council International website.

JIA was the highest-ranking Florida airport on the awards listing. Tampa International Airport tied for second in customer satisfaction in North America, along with El Paso International Airport (Texas) and Ottawa International Airport (Canada).
