As of 8 p.m. Monday, JEA says 80 percent of customers have power.

But 65,000 people are still waiting for their service to be restored.

What was originally supposed to be a virtually complete restoration of service to JEA customers by 11:59 p.m. Monday night - that's not going to happen.

JEA's Gerri Boyce says via email that due to the severe damage, crews aren't going to be able to meet that deadline. JEA utility workers are working with other companies from four states to try and restore electricity to JEA customers.

"We won't stop until everyone's power is restored," Boys says over email.

Hurricane Matthew caused severe damage to parts of JEA's systems and repairing that damage will take more time.

An exact time table has yet to be released.
