A Marion County man fell to his death Friday evening after falling over a thousand feet from a small plane, authorities say.
At 5:30, deputies with the sheriff's office went to the Marion County Airport after getting a call about a man falling 1,200 feet from a plane.
The male victim is not being identified at this time. He was a jump master and part of a group of jumpers parachuting from planes.
Witnesses in the plane say he was kneeling near the door of the plane when he reverse chute deployed accidentally, pulling him from the aircraft.
He hit the side of the plane and then fell to the ground 1,200 feet below.
Paramedics pronounced the man dead upon arrival, the sheriff's office says.
Major crimes detectives are investigating.
