Threat made against Fletcher HS, increased law enforcement Wednesday

In the message, Ledford said the school received a threat that was written in a bathroom stall stating that the school would be under fire on Wednesday, January 24.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Increased law enforcement will be present at Fletcher High School Wednesday after a threat was made, according to its principal Dean Ledford.

Ledford released a recording to all parents on Tuesday afternoon indicating a threat has been made against the school and increased police presence is a "precautionary measure to keep students and staff safe.

In the message, Ledford said the school received a threat that was written in a bathroom stall stating that the school would be under fire on Wednesday, January 24.

School officials investigated and as a precautionary measure, they decided to have increased law enforcement from DCPS Police and the Neptune Beach Police Department on inside and outside of the school on Wednesday.

"We take this threat and all threats seriously," Ledford said.
