Corrine Brown's long-time aide, Ronnie Simmons, served $727K tax bill

The U.S. Government filed a tax lien against Corrine Brown's former chief of staff Wednesday, totaling more than $727,000.

Elias 'Ronnie' Simmons has been ordered to pay $727,964 in restitution following his conviction on fraud and conspiracy charges. He is currently serving a four-year sentence after he agreed to plead guilty to two of 18 charges against him in the high-profile case against Brown.

Simmons testified against Brown and admitted that he helped Brown operate the bogus charity, One Door for Education, which she used as a personal slush fund.

Brown was found guilty on 18 counts involving fraud and tax evasion. She is currently serving a five-year federal sentence.
