JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A controlled burn got out of hand on Sunday and resulted in a brush fire on the Westside, according to the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department.
About 13 acres have been affected by the fire reported in the area of Chaffee Road and POW-MIA Memorial Parkway, firefighters said. JFRD was called to the scene shortly after 4:30 p.m.
The area is expected to smolder through the night as crews put water on hot spots, JFRD said. Firefighters said smoke will be the main issue.
No homes or businesses are in danger.
