Beach water advisory lifted for some areas of South Beach in Jekyll Island

A new sample has stated that the bacteria levels have dropped below the EPA's standard levels.

A beach water advisory has been lifted for areas of South Beach in Jekyll Island according to the Glynn County Health Department.

The Glynn County Health Department found levels of bacteria in the water above the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) recommended standards at the 4H camp area -- from the south water tower to Macey Lane.

A new sample has stated that the bacteria levels have dropped below the EPA's standard levels.

The area will be retested every so often to ensure that bacteria levels meet the Environmental Protection Agency’s recommended standards.
