30 people displaced, no injuries reported after apartment fire near Beauclerc area

Firefighters said the fire occurred around 4:21 a.m. in the 8800 block of South Old Kings Road.

The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department responded to an early morning house fire Saturday near the Beauclerc area of Old Kings Road South that displaced 30 people. Miraculously no one was injured in the fire, according to the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department.

Firefighters said the fire occurred around 4:21 a.m. in the 8800 block of South Old Kings Road located at The Preserve at San Jose apartment complex.

Twelve individual apartment units were destroyed and 30 people were displaced, JFRD said. There were also no reported injuries, they said.

A Red Cross spokesperson says they are giving financial assistance to eight families, a total of 18 adults and two children.

The spokesperson says they also provided water to first responders.

JFRD said the fire seems to have started on the second floor based upon the damage sustained to that area, including a collapsed roof.

An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire.
