JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Two men are in critical condition after one was struck by lightning Thursday in the Mandarin area, the Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department (JFRD) confirmed.

Around 3 p.m., JFRD responded to a call at the 4600 block of Marilyn Anne Ave. in reference to a construction accident. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office also responded to the scene.

During a press conference, JSO said four Hispanic men in their early 20s were working on a roof when a lightning storm rolled through.

JSO said one of the men was struck by lightning and he suffered from severe burns. The other man was knocked off the roof. They were both transported to the hospital in critical condition.

A third man also suffered from minor burns on his back and was transported to the hospital as a precaution while the fourth man was uninjured.
