COVID-19 vaccinations planned Saturday for 400 Nassau school employees

The injections are being handled through the Federal Retail Pharmacy Program, which has prioritized vaccinations for school system employees.

NASSAU COUNTY, Fla. — (Note: The video above was originally published during a previous report.)

Four hundred Nassau County school system employees will receive COVID-19 vaccinations from Winn-Dixie pharmacists Saturday at two county high schools, a Winn-Dixie spokeswoman said Thursday.

The single-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine will be administered Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12:10 p.m. at Yulee High School and from 1:10 p.m. to 5:20 p.m. at West Nassau High School, Winn-Dixie spokeswoman Tiffany Hutto said.

She said in a written release that the vaccinations are being scheduled online through a school system website and that school employees are being contacted by email about the vaccine being available.

NCSD employees can visit the website to easily follow the prompts and choose their appointment time and location through the online scheduling tool.

About 200 vaccines will be administered at each location every five minutes and four patients can be seen at a time, officials said.

Eligible individuals will be asked to stay at their school appointment location for 15 to 30 minutes for a brief observation period after receiving the vaccine.

All available appointments will be made on a first-come, first-served basis and no walk-ups will be allowed. Those with confirmed appointments will also receive a text message reminder at the mobile number provided.
