Fatal car crash in Putnam County leaves one dead and a toddler in critical condition

Two vehicles were involved in a fatal car accident on County Road 309 in Putnam County killing one passenger and leaving three others in serious condition Friday night.

Two vehicles were involved in a fatal car accident on County Road 309 in Putnam County killing one passenger and leaving three others in serious condition Friday night.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, an 80-year-old driver was traveling south on County Road 309 just north of Shell Harbour Road when he drifted into the northbound lane and collided with another vehicle.

Inside the other vehicle was passenger Robert Elliott, 55, who died. The driver Heather Tinsley, 33, is in serious condition and another three-year-old passenger is in critical condition. Neither passengers were wearing seatbelts.

The driver and the child were both transported to Shands Hospital.

The driver of the first vehicle was transported to Halifax Hospital and is also in serious condition.

It is unknown if alcohol was involved with the driver, according to officials.
