There's a large police presence in the area with neighbors telling First Coast News that they are not allowed in their homes.
Ricker Rd SWAT call out: We ask for residents in this area to please be patient. Safety is our number one priority.— Jax Sheriff's Office (@JSOPIO) March 17, 2017
JSO says that the incident may be connected to a reported robbery at a Wells Fargo Bank on San Juan Avenue earlier Friday morning where the suspect fled on foot. As of noon, police have left the bank, but it remains closed.
A follow-up investigation into the robbery led police to the home. An armed man confronted them, but no gunfire was exchanged. The man went back into the home and police worked to make contact with him to "bring (the situation) to a peaceful resolution." They don't know if it is the robbery suspect.
UPDATE: JSO says they were lead here in connection to earlier bank robbery. Would not say whether it's the suspect @FCN2go— Juliette Dryer (@JulietteDryer) March 17, 2017
At this time, JSO has not been inside the house and they cannot confirm if there are other individuals inside the home. Police also did not confirm if the man is the Wells Fargo robbery suspect.
The FBI has reached out to JSO saying they are ready to provide assistance and resources if needed.
Duval County Public Schools says there are no lock downs in place because students are on Spring Break.
