A Putnam County school crossing guard wearing her uniform attacked a man twice with a golf club Wednesday afternoon and was arrested, deputies say.

Ana Julia Rodriguez, 54, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and has since bonded out of jail, the Putnam County Sheriff's Office says.

Sheriff's office deputies arrived on the 100 block of East Oakside Drive in Interlachen around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and found a 24-year-old victim who told them his neighbor attacked him with a golf club twice because she thought he stole her dirt bike, law enforcement says.

He told deputies he was walking along Poplar Drive when Rodriguez pulled up and got out of her car to confront him about the dirt bike.

During the argument, Rodriguez pulled out a golf club and the victim pulled out his knife, but then he put it away and ran, deputies say.

She allegedly chased him down in her car and attacked him with the golf club a second time.

When deputies arrived at her house, they spoke to her and placed her under arrest. She was released on a $5,000 bond. She was wearing her school crossing guard uniform during the attack and has been placed on administrative leave from the sheriff's office pending the outcome of an internal investigation.
