The St. Augustine Police Department said a woman reported an attempted carjacking on Thursday, a news release said Friday.
The incident occurred at about 6:47 p.m. Thursday in the 1900 block of Mizell Road at the Gate Gas Station.
The officer made contact with one of the victims who said while stopped at a traffic light at Avenida Menedez and Fort Alley a white male about 6 feet tall with short brown hair approached a woman’s vehicle. He was wearing a white T-shirt and a tan jacket and started using profanity and tried opening the woman’s car door. The woman told police the suspect had a tattoo or a birthmark under his right eye, according to the news release.
She drove away and the suspect started approaching a vehicle behind her, the news release said.
There has been no arrest made as this is an open investigation at this time. Investigators are currently working on a composite sketch which will be released once completed.
