JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A 20-year-old man faces a felony charge after allegedly assaulting his mother with a knife and golf club on Wednesday.

Jerome Westly Wynn faces a second-degree felony charge of aggravated battery causing great bodily harm.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office responded to a stabbing in the 12800 block of Swamp Owl Lane around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to the arrest report.

A woman, who was later identified as the suspect's mother, was found with several stab wounds in the neck and chest area. She was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.

Police obtained a search warrant for the house and found the suspect, Wynn, with blood on his hands and left cheek. He was taken into custody without further incident, according to the report.

The report states a golf club was used in the alleged assault, but does not state how.
