Lawsuit filed against man whose alleged DUI crash killed couple, unborn child

The lawsuit is seeking damages against the suspect in the crash, Shawn Lee Blitchington, and his former employer, Pure Air Inc.

A lawsuit has been filed against a man whose alleged DUI crash killed a young couple and their unborn child several months ago.

According to Nassau County court records, a lawsuit was filed on December 12 seeking damages against the suspect in the crash, Shawn Lee Blitchington, and his former employer, Pure Air Inc.

Blitchington is believed to have been driving his work truck at the time of the accident.

Deputies with the Florida Highway Patrol say Blitchington was driving his Ford truck southbound on US-301 in the wrong lane with no headlights on July 21. 2018 when his vehicle collided head-on with a Honda Civic.

Both the Civic's driver, 22-year-old Bailey Christine McKnight, and passenger, 21-year-old Ryan Chase Kennedy, died in the crash.

Court records show Blitchington has had previous run-ins with the law in Nassau County.

Blitchington is currently in the Nassau County Jail awaiting trial on several charges connected to the alleged DUI accident including 3 counts of DUI manslaughter.
