Kingsland man requesting meeting with School Superintendent tased by police

A man was tased by police early Friday morning when police report he became agitated and refused to leave the lobby while requesting a meeting with a School Superintendent.

According to the Kingsland Police Department, Jeffrey Travers was in the lobby of the Camden County Board of Education requesting a meeting with the superintendent who was at that time not available for a meeting.

According to staff members Travers became agitated and uncooperative at which time contact with 911 was made for law enforcement.

Officers began speaking with Travers who began passively resisting, they informed him that they were going to pat him down for weapons, at which time police report Travers began actively resisting.

Travers was given multiple loud verbal commands to comply with officers however, he refused to do so leading officers to physically attempt to remove him from the property.

Due to Mr. Travers continual disregard to officers’ commands, police tased the man to safely subdue and remove him from the premises.

Travers was placed under arrest and charged with Disorderly Conduct and Obstruction to Law Enforcement Officers, and was transported to the Southeast Georgia Healthcare System (Camden Campus) to be medically cleared prior to incarceration.
