A person was taken to the hospital after being shot in the hand in the Brentwood area, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
At 4:35 p.m., officers responded to the 800 block of West 29th Street in reference to an incident picked up by shot-spotter.
At the scene, multiple shell casing was found in the street, but officers were unable to locate a victim, police said.
Police said the victim was located a short while later at a nearby hospital with a gunshot wound to the hand.
At this time, the suspect or suspects in the shooting are not known, police said. The investigation is still ongoing.
