Father of four arrested in drug raid in Atlantic Beach

A father of four is now behind bars after he was arrested in a drug and weapon raid in Atlantic Beach.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A father of four is now behind bars after he was arrested in a drug and weapon raid in Atlantic Beach.

Daniel Ciciora, 33, is facing several drug charges and a $12,000 bond.

An undercover officer bought narcotics from Ciciora and then police later arrested him during a traffic stop as he was leaving his home on Camelia Street with his kids Thursday morning.

It’s the latest arrest in several drug raids to happen throughout the Atlantic Beach community this year.

Former JSO investigator Kim Varner knows the area well. He said it's a quiet community, but he remembers doing his own raids around the beaches and Mayport area several times.

"You don’t usually see kids in a house like that where they are selling drugs like this, but it’s not uncommon at all," Varner said. "Whoever is dealing, you know, they have families, so they come from all walks of life."

Looking over the weapons and drugs seized by police, he said he’s not surprised.

"Guns and drugs go together, people carry them basically for protection," he said.

Ciciora is in the Duval County Jail. His wife is still at home with their four children. They just recently moved in with his dad to help take care of his mom, who was suffering from congestive heart failure.

"Matter of fact, he was doing CPR on her when the ambulance arrived, but now she’s passed," Ciciora's father, Tim, told First Coast News.

He said his son is a good person, and most importantly a good son, husband and father, but he doesn’t excuse his behavior.

"He was brought up, you know, you do the crime, you do the time, so what are you going to do, you know, you live life one day at a time and move forward," he said.

The Department of Children and Families said they are investigating the situation since kids are involved.
