Bartender: Clay officers didn't do enough after report of drunk mom in bar while baby locked in car

While the mother was drunk inside the bar, the 18-month-old child was in the car crying and sweating.

A Clay County bartender is mad after she says she witnessed a baby left in a hot car for hours Tuesday while the mother was in the bar intoxicated.

Her anger turned to outrage after she says she called the Clay County Sheriff's Office and they did nothing.

Brittany Moss, who works at Saloon 17 - located on US 17 - said she expected more from the sheriff's office when she called 911 Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.

Her only recourse? Social media.

She posted the bars surveillance video of Facebook showing the mother.

"She's walking around. She's falling over, customers are getting mad," Moss said describing the mother's actions in the bar that night.

The woman was in the bar from about 4:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., according to Moss.

The bartender said she and another customer offered to get the woman an Uber, but she declined. When the mother went out to her car, it didn't start.

That's when another patron at the bar told Moss a child was in the car.

"She was in the front seat bawling and that's when I see the child, 18 months, not even 2 years old," said Moss. "He's screaming, crying, sweating profusely."

The car eventually started and the mother left, with the baby in the car.

Moss said she gave law enforcement the the car's tag number and Clay authorities say the searched for it.

They weren't able to locate the vehicle, according to the sheriff's office.

The Department of Children and Families was called and the woman's children have been placed in the care of another family member.
