Women survive '30-40' bullets shot at them while pulling into driveway on Westside

JSO was called to the scene around 9 p.m. after multiple shots were fired by what could have been multiple suspects driving a white four-door sedan.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla — Two women were hospitalized Wednesday night after "30 to 40" bullets were shot at them when they pulled into a driveway in the Hillcrest neighborhood on the Westside, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said.

JSO was called to the scene on Woodcrest Road around 9 p.m. after multiple shots were fired by what could have been multiple suspects driving a white four-door sedan. Early investigation has lead JSO to believe the suspect vehicle followed the victims to a home they pulled up to and started firing.

Witnesses told officers and First Coast News they heard around 30-40 gunshots.

JSO said one woman is in critical condition, the other is stable. Both appear to be in their 20s or 30s, JSO said.

JSO said the suspect vehicle reportedly fled the scene right after the shooting.

It is unknown if the victims and suspect, or suspects, knew each other, JSO added.

The sheriff's office is asking anyone with information to contact them at 904-630-0500 or 1-866-845-TIPS if you would like to remain anonymous and be eligible for a $3,000 reward.
