Five years ago, Donald Smith, 61, raped and brutally murdered 8-year-old Cherish Perrywinkle.

He was found guilty on Feb. 14 and today he's expected to learn his sentence for the gruesome crime that has captivated many around the country.

It's unclear when the man accused of killing Cherish Perrywinkle, 8, will go to trial. The suspect will appear in court for another pre-trial hearing July 2.
