JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office was called to a home early Sunday morning in reference to a 14-year-old boy being shot in the leg.

The incident happened at 7977 New Kings Road, though police responded to a home in northwest Jacksonville at 2:40 a.m.

The boy was shot in the parking lot of the Lavilla Sportsman Club, but police say they could not locate a scene or find any evidence. At least one shot was fired, but the boy has non-life threatening injuries and was taken to UF Health by his family.

Police are still investigating why the teen was near the club. Police say they don't believe the public is in danger and there are no witnesses or suspects at this time.
